I agree, $10 is cheap. Our caterer quoted us $18/person last October. We had our reception at a private venue, which allowed us to bring our own alcohol. In the end we opted to serve only wine and beer (plus champagne for the toast), and everyone was happy with that. Of course our guests aren't heavy drinkers. But you know your crowd best.
