I live here in the DC area; my parents, MOH, and my wedding are in San Diego, CA. When my MOH threw me a shower in CA she courtesy invited the other bridesmaids (who are all over the country) but not any relatives who could not conceivably make the trip. Same when my future sister-in-law/bridesmaid (my FHs sister) threw a coed shower here in the DC area. She invited my mom since my mom had expressed interest in coming, and we invited all other relatives who lived up to about 2 hours away as well as local folks. I don't think relatives will be offended to not be invited if they know the shower is far away and they won't be able to attend. We did have people drive from Delaware to a shower in Frederick, though! This is just what worked for me and customs in your family may be different, though.
: My future daughter in law's shower is coming up in September. How do you decide who to invite? All our relatives live 600 miles away. Should they be sent invitations even though it is very unlikely they would attend?
