I had decent experiences at the following. I was looking to spend $500-700 on a dress, totally unwilling to pay more than $1000 (my definition of "reasonable")
- Bridal Visions: service was friendly and they had a wide selection with a variety of prices.
- Ellie's in Old Town: service not as great (I could pull a dress over my head faster than the saleperson I had) but in general the people were nice, the selection was fine, and the prices seemed reasonable.
- Katherine's of Old Town: Not as wide a selection, but still a good shopping experience.
- Lady Hamilton: Seemed to have a nice selection...service was generally helpful (although they picked out some awful dresses for my figure) but prices were a little higher. I had a friend who shopped there who was unhappy with the high amounts she was charged for alterations. They also had to ship her dress to her out of state (where her wedding was) and it did not arrive until the day before the wedding (even though it was shipped three weeks before.)
I also went to Priscilla's of Boston (Tysons Corner) but I think all their dresses were around $2000. It was a pleasant enough shopping experience.
I only bought my shoes at Hannelore's and they were helpful in ordering something for me that they did not have in stock.
I ended up buying my dress out of state where my wedding is, so can't comment on anything but actual shopping experiences. Good luck and have fun shopping!
